PEP Band Tuition Waiver
Pursuant to SBHE Policy 820, BSC may offer a waiver to BSC to students meeting certain eligibility requirements.
Waiver Amount
- The waiver may provide up to $2,500 per academic year, awarded as ranging from $250 to $1,250 per semester
- Award amounts may vary by student and semester to support ensemble balance and recruitment priorities.
- The waiver is renewable for up to two semesters, subject to continued eligibility and funding availability.
Funding Availability
- Waivers are awarded based on programmatic and recruitment priorities, contingent upon available funds.
- Priority consideration may be given to students with harder-to-recruit instruments, as determined by program needs.
- Funding is limited and not guaranteed.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrollment Status: Be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credits) during each semester the waiver is awarded.
- Academic & Conduct Standing: Students must remain in good academic standing.
- Required Course Enrollment: Students must be registered each semester in MUSC 192 and MUSC 213.
- Participation Requirement: Maintain active and satisfactory participation in rehearsals, performances, and designated campus or athletic events, as determined by the Band Director/Instructor.
- Musical Background (Program Consideration)
Students should demonstrate prior instrumental performance experience, such as:
- High school band
- Community band
- College band
- Comparable ensemble or performance experience
- Equivalent experience may be considered at the discretion of the Band Director/Instructor.
Application Process:
- Students must submit a completed Pep Band Waiver Application prior to the start of the semester.
- Applications may be accepted on a rolling basis, subject to funding availability.
- Upon approval of the waiver program, applications may be accepted immediately to support recruitment of prospective students.
Selection and Awarding Process:
- Applications will be reviewed and approved by the Academic Division, in consultation with the Band Director/Instructor, to ensure alignment with program and enrollment needs.
- Student Finance will apply the waivers
Student Responsibilities:
- Students are responsible for all fees, textbooks, and other costs not covered by the waiver.
- Students must maintain eligibility requirements for the duration of the award period.
Withdraws/Revocation:
- Students who withdraw will be subject to the refund policy consistent with NDUS policy 830.2 and will be responsible for any outstanding balance on their student account.
Monitoring:
- Renewal/Continuation of the waiver program will be at the discretion of the Executive VP.
